Human computer interaction is the field of research at the Department of Information Design -particularly with regard the planning and implementation of interactions with information objects and equipment that is easy, natural, and as pleasant as possible. The focus of research in the field of technology enhanced learning is on the development of adaptive, game-like environments intended to promote cognitive processes by adaptation, motivation and interaction. One of the central questions is how and to which extent immersive environments and playful interaction can contribute to the take-in of knowledge.
Maja Pivec is Professor of GBL and Learning with Multimedia at the University of Applied Sciences FH JOANNEUM and winner of the Herta Firnberg Award (Austria) in 2001. In the 2003 she was awarded a European Science Foundation grant in the field of affective and emotional aspects of human-computer interaction, with emphasis on GBL and innovative learning approaches.Maja is editor, co-editor and guest editor of several books and journals on innovative learning approaches
